Green is the New Black
You’ve heard the claims. Businesses everywhere are going “green.” Our favorite products are turning up with “environmentally safe” labels and new sales-inducing seals of approval. Companies that manufacture paints are making claims about low VOC’s or no VOC’s, and it’s getting more and more difficult to sift through all the rhetoric. But the facts are pretty simple.
Over the years we’ve made incredible strides to eradicate contaminates like lead paint and asbestos from our homes and businesses. But we’ve managed to let a whole new contaminate walk in the door behind them. According to studies confirmed by the EPA, “our indoor air is still more polluted than [our] outdoor air,” due to the “evaporation of volatile organic chemicals.”
This invisible phenomena, more commonly known as “off-gassing,” is filling our homes with a new kind of harmful contaminate. In fact, the EPA now contends that our “indoor air can actually be as much as 10 times more polluted than outdoor air.”
So how do we fix it? At Moxie we’re helping to solve the problem in two ways:
NO Means NO
We can’t prevent all VOC’s from getting through the front door. But we do know that 80% of them come from paint… and that’s something we can change.
According to the “Green” building standard, this is the VOC content of most paints:
· Typical latex paint – 250-300 grams per liter
· Low VOC paint – 50 grams or less per liter
· No VOC paint – 5 grams or less per liter
More simply put, your “No VOC paint” may actually contain over ¼ c. of damaging VOC’s in every gallon. And your expensive, “low-VOC” chalk type paint may contain ½ c. of VOC’s in every quart.
At Moxie Paints we believe No VOC’s should mean ZERO. So we created a standard above the “Green” Building Standard. At Moxie we’re proud to say that all our products are completely non-toxic, hypoallergenic and ALWAYS 100% VOC-Free. When you walk through your front door with Moxie Paint, no VOC’s are walking in with you. It’s that simple!
Purify, Purify, Purify
By simply eliminating VOC’s from the paints we use, we can significantly reduce the number of contaminates evaporating into the air. But what do we do about the existing ones?
When you protect your painted pieces with our Moxie Armor, you’re doing more than just protecting the finish. You’re helping to purify the air around you.
Our groundbreaking, and exclusive, formula actually absorbs existing VOC’s from the air, trapping and neutralizing them for years to come. By participating in a hobby you love, you’re helping to clean the air your breath. And that’s a good thing!
